: Can anyone explain the meaning of the different endings to the same name? I realize that the ending denotes the area of greece that the family originated; however, my question is are all related even if the ending is different. For example, THEODORE, THEODOROS,THEODOROU, THEODORAKIS, THEODOROPOLOUS, THEODORATOS,etc.?

: If you know, please let me know. It's driving me crazy!

Some endings of surnames are more typical of specific areas of Greece and Cyprus but there are exceptions, and there is no hard and fast rule that a certain ending will be a given for a point of origin.
Seems to me (given your examples), you are either confusing entirely different names (and assuming there is a relation because they are similar), or are ignorant of the fact of gender (masculine and feminine) grammar rules that apply
not only to nouns but to proper names as well. Maybe you're confused *and* ignorant. (don't be offended, I said "ignorant", not stupid--- there's a difference)
