Early Xmas Eve morning in Greece, the kids go door to door singing the traditional song accompanied by a triangle. They are given a bit of pocket money and perhaps treated to some traditional holidays treats like melomakarona or kourabiedes (types of Xmas cookies/sweets). Xmas day of course includes a great meal that may include turkey or the more historically traditional roast pork. When visiting friends or family who may or may not be celebrating their name day, a gift to the host/hostess and/or the person who has the name day is, if not expected, always welcome.

Typical ideas for gifts include quality sweets or liquor. Flowers are also appropiate.
