: I am Greek Orthodox, and my husband is not. Before we got married, we agreed to raise any children that we have in the Greek Orthodox religion. We also agreed to baptise our children in the Greek Orthodox church. We were not married in a Greek church. We weren't married in any church -- we were married on a beach by a notary public. My question is, will this pose a problem when it comes time to baptising our children? If anybody could help us find some answers, we'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi Maria,

From my opinion, I think as long as one of you is
Greek Orthodox it's ok to baptise your kids in the
Greek Orthodox church. I know a girl ( American )
whos had a baby out of wedlock and she wanted to
baptise it Greek Orthodox. The pries told her
that she herself had to be baptised Greek Orthodox
first.

The thing I'm sure of is that the godparnt(S) you
choose have to be Greek Orthodox. You should
call a Greek Church and They'll give you
all the info. Good Luck
