I know of a young woman who was accepted into the Russian Orthodox Church (in America) and was not briefed ahead of time that the new member was expected to get down on the floor at least three times during the ceremony. The service was held 'in the round' and the young lady wore a straight, knee-length skirt which made getting up and down quite difficult. What should have been a special day was one of embarassment when the girl was worried that half the congregation was able to see up her skirt.
