Elizabeth...that response to Nikos???? HOW can you possibly give that answer as a rebuttal??? Were you kidding??? Animals are mistreated around the world and it makes me very sad, but can we talk about what's happening to humans? Young boys and girls are being electrocuted & tortured in Turkey. God only knows what they do to cats! As Nikos said, he is waiting for a real reply, as I think many on this topic are. You have stated many opinons, but where's the substance??

It is about an American in America, that got in an accident on a freeway in California, and was so upset with the other driver, he reached into her car pulled out her dog and threw it into traffic. The dog died, the man got three years in prison. Is this what Western Europe and America do that makes them more advanced than Greece. An example of Greece treating animals well is the example a few years back when fishermen on the island of Leros all got together to save a dolphin that was in trouble, and they were applauded by Greenpeace. Or Greece's efforts to protect the carerra carrera turtles in Zakynthos, or the efforts to save the brown bears of northern Greece from extinction. There are many examples of organizations (Delphis - protection of dolphins and whales) in Greece that strive to protect animals and their habitats. There are also many bad examples as well. But your examples can be used for any country and these good and bad things can be found in all societies. So I am still waiting for what constitutes being Western European, an example, and how Greece differs.

The crying continued...coming up on three weeks now. Finally, he took his nephew and a large blanket..and decided to try capturing the cat again. They managed to scare the cat into jumping down to another building...which she could then escape from. As he entered the house with his nephew his comments were something like this: "These people are WORSE than animals"
