: I am in need of help translating a word from it's ancient greek to it's current english translation. I believe the spelling is "fixias" or "fixious", in ancient Greek. I also believe it means "to take flight." This is where I need verification on the true translation and current english spelling. I appreciate all help or pointers where to get more help if no one knows the answer.

Only I know near about is followings:

pifinx = pifex = pifix , probably = korydallion = latin "Alauda cristata" = english "lark"

Where are you seen "fixias" ?
