Please believe me I am no expert but I think the following:
a) Since you spell your name with two "L"s, the first "A" must be
pronounced as a short "A" because it is followed by two consonants, as
b) I am certain that you know of Maria Kallas, the famous soprano. Her
name was Kalogeropoulos and she shortened it, for obvious reasons, to
Kallas. The one "L" became double "L" I think for the reason that I
mentioned above, to make sure that the first "A" was pronounced as a
short "A" rather than a long one.
c) Kallos (with the accent on the first "A") means Beauty in Greek
d) Kalos (with the accent on "O") means Good.
Best wishes. Mary.
