Well...there are a couple of possibilities, one of which has already been described by someone else. I just wanted to add that another possible song is "Barba Yianni me tis stamnes" which is an old Greek song from the beginning of the century but still popular among tavern patrons. Do you remember any of the song's lyrics?

: Last year in Fiskardo, Cephalonia. I was madde friends with a taxi driver called Makis. Because I try to speak Greek and because I strected a point to say my English name was Yiannis in Greek he sang this song to me whenever we met. I kind of think that babba means uncle and also that Babba Yiannis is some kind of Cretian or Cypriot folk hero. Can anyone tell me:
