What made my life so much easier is what a Greek woman friend once told me:
"You are more 'Greek' than any Greek-American I know. You will not, however, ever be as Greek as your parents. Likewise, if your children are raised in the US, they will be even further removed. It's a matter of time...now or later...your descendents will NOT be Greek no matter what it is that you do."
This is a good point. In the future, I am not planning on living in Greece, so what difference does it make? I will expose my kids to the culture....but it will only influence them as much as they allow it.
