: : : My sixth-grade daughter is doing report on Greece and we would like to know origin of wonderful pastry known as baklava. Any help?

: : Ottoman Empirer Mehmet II ordered the Baklava in 1460s.

: WE WERE FORCED TO MAKE ONLY TURKISH FOODS WHILE BEING UNDER THEIR RULE FOR 400 YEARS!!!!!!! BAKLAVA IS NOT GREEK> IT IS TURKISH.

: Hope it helps?

: Paraskivi

: I have many wonderful recipes for Greek delights to make for dessert if you want them. Just email. Yassas!

: Yasas. I am sure that the Greek were NOT forced to make only Turkish foods. Because the history science says that Turks let every nation, (when ruling) to believe it's own God, no compulsion, no forbidding. So why Greeks were forced on that subject?
