During the Turkish occupation of Greece, there were some laws; it appears that "voluntary mixing" of the two races was out of the question. It wasn't about nationalities - rather, this prohibition was due to religion. Greeks saw themselves, unlike now, first as Christians. The Turks, unlike now, were seen mostly as Muslims. Aside the occasional raping that took place on our women, we weren't allowed by law to marry the enemy. Remember: the occupation lasted close to 400 years...
