: : : : I am looking for Greek recipe for coney island sauce. I've loved good coney dogs for 70 years, but since I left Michigan I can't find a god one. The best always turned out to greek. THere must be a secret ingrediant. Appricate any help.

I have a recipe for Greek style sauce. I got the recipe from a person in New York years ago. It's the sauce that I've been using for years and I like it alot. I'm from Iowa and I've always enjoyed this particular sauce. Here it is; 2 lbs ground chuck 3 tablespoons chili powder 1 large onion chopped fine 8 teaspoons cumin powder 8 teaspoons paprika 3 teaspoons garlic powder or minced garlic 1 teaspoon red ground pepper Salt & pepper to taste put hamburger into 2 1/2 cups of cold water. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer about 2 hours adding more water as needed. Makes about 1 1/2 quarts. If you want to cut down on the spiciness add less red pepper. Better the next day after it sits awhile. Enjoy!!!!!
