: Ime ellinas of the genetic type that Gk girl decribes (dark hair, dark eyes and olive skin).I am not joudean nor mesopotamean and when i woke up every morning i feel as good as any other caucasean-indo-european ellina-romio citizen of athens. Many other hellenes are spread through europe and the rest of the planet, participating in a variety of ethnic groups. The word greek derives from the name graekos that was given to people who lived in graecia (the land around mount olymbus). In our late times the anglo-saxons call us all greeks. Probably because this is how they now us for the past few centuries that they systematicaly record their own history. For example the turks, the persians and the arabs are still calling us iones. In the ancient time we had commercial affairs with the celtes and apparently we had been loved. Following 312 a.d we have also converged with other europeans hence, the blue eyes and the blonde hair.
: We are all culturally described as hellenes and further more as panhellenes, keeping in mind our diverse descent: ionians, dorians, aeolians, acheans, minoans and so on...
: The last ,forced, diaspora from the motherland was 1922.
: God Bless

The greek race is composed of two basic parts, which came in three groups:
The first part is that of the original inhabitants of much of what we now call 'greece': the people whom the ellhnes called pelasgians. Their civilization reached its highest level in Crete.
The second group came intwo parts. This is the 'white' part, the caucasian part. The group of people who called themselves Ellhnes came into the aegean region around 2200 BC. They adopted the culture of the pelasgians and intermixed with them. They didnt establish themselves much on the islands, but did a lot on the mainland. The second batch of this race was the Dorians, who lived for a long time in places like Epiros, and starting around 1200BC, they
started spreading further south, and around 1100 BC they invaded the rest of the greek world. Like the Ellhnes, they were absorbed into the culture, but some aspects of them remain. Depending on what part of greece one is from, one has a different mix of these groups, with different physical attributes. For example there is more Dorian blood in Epiros still, then there is in, e.g. Xios.
