How the Greek Orthodox religion differs from all others.

Civil Marriage and The Greek Orthodox Church

Postby weddinggirl19 » Fri Oct 01, 2010 3:49 pm

My fiance and I are pregnant and due very soon. We do want to marry in the church. However, due to financial issues we wanted to hold off on the big wedding in the church. I was baptized Christian, but he is Greek Orthodox. My question is if we get married at the court house will we be aloud to baptize our new baby? Does is differ according to what the priest/church will allow?

Please please help. Also, I suggested the idea of a small wedding at the church and later having the big celebration when we can afford it to my fiance and he said it simply would not be the same with all the tradition in his Greek culture. I need as much information as I can get about this topic!!~
