The inevitable truth is that marriage is a UNION OF FAMILIES, although we like to fool ourselves into thinking it's only about the confirmation of a romantic bond. My only advice is get to know the family very very well before you marry into it - irrespective of their cultural background. Bad in-laws are as common as ignorance and possessiveness is in the human population, in other words, very very common. In-laws from hell, even if your intended spouse supports you in the beginning, will inevitably break up the marriage - and to top it all off, the intended will eventually SIDE WITH THEM.
