I hate to tell you this but encountering such comments makes me mad. As an Australian Greek we face constant racism from the Skips (Anglo/Irish/German etc). They call us Wogs and treat us just slightly better than Asians. However in the 80's a group of Greeks made fun of themselves on the box calling themselves Wogs out of Work. This has made the comments much less painful and my children do call themselves Wogs. I still find it infuriating that my cousins from Greece think we're all well treated outside Europe. That's definitely not that case here.
I've heard of similar stories of friends in Germany and even France where Greeks were discriminated against because of the way they looked.
I'd appreciate it if you posted something on Woglife (http://www.wog.com.au)just to show those Anglos that we are a proud and continuing race!
